With a hearty gratitude, we herewith present the Quinquennial Report of Yayasan Gemilang Sehat Indonesia (YGSI).
This report serves as an accountability mechanism for our collective efforts in advancing sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and preventing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Indonesia. It does not documents our achievements but also reflects our comprehensive journey toward establishing a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for young people.
Since our inception as part of Rutgers International and our transition to an independent entity in 2024, we have maintained a consistent focus on catalysing change through an evidence-based approach, strategic partnerships, and the leadership of young people. Initiatives such as Generation Gender (Gen G), Right Here Right Now 2 (RHRN2), and Power to You(th) (PtY) have been instrumental in reinforcing our intersectoral collaboration ecosystem.
We actively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including young people, religious leaders, traditional authorities, government representatives, media professionals, and various communities across regions such as Langkat, Indramayu, Garut, Cianjur, Jember, Jombang, Bondowoso, Lombok, and Palu. Among the effective practices we have developed are the establishment of a youth forum, the enhancement of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) within educational institutions, the formulation of a standard operating procedure for addressing incidents of violence in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), and the promotion of SRHR literacy among grassroots communities.
We assert that innovation and contextual relevance are pivotal to the success of our programs. Creative methodologies rooted in local culture, such as the production of the film ANGEN and the use of wayang botol (bottle puppets) in Lombok, along with nadzom (sung poetry) in Jember, have demonstrated efficacy in expanding the outreach and impact of SRHR and SGBV education within communities.
